China Club - China Club isn’t just another bridge-and-tunnel megaclub. This longtime host to celebrities and high-profile parties is a staple in local nightlife--at least 90% of twenty- and thirty-something New Yorkers have made their way through its gilded gates. Given that, security is no joke, with linebacker-sized guards every 10 feet. After the requisite pat-downs and ID checks, find an ample dance floor where you can bump and grind to hip-hop, pop and reggaeton. The VIP section wraps around the space, housing many-a-B-list celebrities and local regulars being, of course, ultra cool. This isn’t the place to be cheap. The cover is about $20, while a Heineken asks for a whopping $8. The best attraction by far is Jade Terrace on the third floor with an sprawling view of Time Square. While the girl-guy ratio is fairly even and attractive, a night at China Club wouldn’t be complete without some fall-down drunken chick being carried down the stairs or a Long Island beefcake taking off his shirt for a fight. Who says there's no more action in Times Square?

Crash Mansion - Crash Mansion is located in the basement of BLVD. This less trendy club allows a more formal dress code and welcomes guests weekly into a cave-like, concert, lounge and dancing area. Regularly, local bands and established names (like Nora Jones) play for trendsetting, music-loving crowds and DJ's entertain both in-between and after the shows. The lounge space next to the main dance floor gives the room a unique and different feel to the intimate underground noise chamber.

Opal - An all-around good time isn’t necessarily easy to find in Midtown, but Opal somehow manages to pull it off. There’s nothing so special about the bar – it’s on the smaller side, has a rich wood interior and your typical drink list – but it works for a chill night out with the guys, a first date or a post-work drink with the coworkers. In the summer, small outdoor tables surround the bar, perfect for intimate conversations. Inside, TVs are placed strategically, and tables are plentiful. Drink prices are definitely fair, and during the day (and into the night) Opal serves upscale dishes from spicy quesadillas to hearty steaks. It’s a low-key place that regulars flock to, and dutifully fulfills its role as a neighborhood favorite.

Columbus72, Manhattan’s only Upper West Side nightclub and private party venue is fast becoming an institution. With two rooms to party in (with two dj’s), there is something for everyone. A VIP lounge and private sections are also available. Birthday parties and other celebrations are quite popular. This is not your models and A List celebrity hangout, but simply a great place to dance and drink the night away in comfortable style. Columbus72 does not play line games at the door. If you have ID for 21 or over and are properly dressed, you are in. Once inside you will have a fantastic time, the DJ in the Columbus Room plays a mix of today’s hits as well as many of the classics. The Broadway Room DJ plays a Latin mix, Salsa, Meringue, Bachata, and more. Columbus72 is one block away from the B,C,1,2, & 3 subway trains and there is plenty of free street parking nearby.

LQ Nightclub - This commanding space (boasting a capacity of over 1,000 heads) is well furbished and furnished. Outside the standard nightclub neighborhoods, LQ has became a midtown monster, catering to the Park and Lex lovelies that are too polished for the downtown drudge. The peacock pink and neon decor keep things from getting too staid.

We've all heard the saying "Variety is the spice of life." And while this philosophy holds true in most aspects of day-to-day living, it seems the masterminds of the New York nightlife industry have forgotten what it means to mix things up. Unless one is prepared to club-hop around the city, a nightlife goer can expect an evening of mostly the same if they stay at one night spot. But new club and event space Promenade, located in the hot Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, is changing all of that.
Unlike most clubs or event spaces in the city, Promenade has the square footage to create a diverse atmosphere that satisfies even the toughest nightlife critic. The tri-level space contains three very different floors for every different type of nightlife enthusiast.
